Donnie Darko Movie Review. The execution of donnie darko is more than remarkable. In that 2001 review, i found a lot to admire and enjoy in donnie darko, including the director's control of tone and the freshness of the characters.
After narrowly escaping a bizarre accident, a troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a man in a large rabbit suit who manipulates him to commit a series of crimes. There is a kind of movie that calls out not merely to be experienced but to be solved. Whatever the category you fall in, you have to recognize the skill of richard kelly.
Donnie darko is one of the many independent movies i've seen over the years;
It is a darkly disturbing tale about teenage rebellion that comes across more like a horror movie than the social satire that the filmmakers apparently intended. Donnie darko is **** amazing, the movie's got a bloody brilliant plot with an outstandingly great cast and all of the characters are very well developed throughout this movie, especially donnie darko (jake gyllenhaal). When donnie asks about the cause of the eye wound, frank whispers “i am so sorry” and then directs donnie’s attention to the movie screen. Whatever the category you fall in, you have to recognize the skill of richard kelly.
